Spring Fate
The Plot
Take Downton Abbey, add a James Bond-ish plot, mix with music on the cusp of the jazz age, sprinkle with the light humour of "Allo 'allo" and a "Carry On", and serve nightly in the Milborne Port Village Hall. "Spring Fate" combines the best music from the Edwardian era with modern humour, crafted by MPO's Neil Edwards (his third show).
The plot centres around vital secret documents, and the attempts to steal them by foreign agents - Austrian, Prussian, French, American and Russian , all outlandishly disguised as guests or performers at a Fete in a stately home.
However, the Empire, has an aristocratic ace or two among its resourceful entourage, sent to thwart any evil plans.
Will foreign agents triumph? Will the British, guided, mostly by blind luck, prevail? Does it matter?
Sit back, enjoy the wit, pun and double entendre, intermingled with the award-winning MPO's magnificent and exemplary choral and solo performances, accompanied by our highly talented orchestra.
