AWARDS NIGHT
Forget the Oscars! Somerset's own Oscars ceremony happened Friday 7th March in Weston-super-Mare, where some 80 theatre companies battled it out for gongs in the annual David Beach competition, organised by the Somerset Fellowship of Drama.
MPO Musical Theatre was nominated for six awards for last year's show "The Drowsy Chaperone". This is the highest number of nominations received by the company (the previous record was for "The Sorcerer" in 2016 – where we won 3 out of 5)
The nominations are as follows:
Best Male Lead - Lloyd Davies as Man in Chair
Best Cameo - Matthew Baker as Aldolpho
Best Supporting Female - Sukie Read as The Drowsy Chaperone
Small Venue Award (which we have won previously)
Best Direction - Karen Pankhurst
Best Props
MPO Musical Theatre won 2 of the awards
Lloyd Davies has won Best Actor.
Neil Harrison-Shaw and the team won Best Props (The fridge and the aeroplane to mention two).
